Where did the phrase da bomb come from?

Dear Mountie

where did the phrase da bomb come from,

kimberley

Dear kimberley

The phrase ‘da bomb’ was invented by college students in 1997, to express the sentiment that something was what their parents had described as ‘far out’ or ‘cool’ when they went to college a generation prior.

What ‘da bomb’ was in 1997 was ‘The Curse of Monkey Island’, ‘Stargate SG-1’ and Elton John singles.
