After searching hi and lo, I have finally found an answer to your horticultural query.

The plant for you is Magnolia grandiflora, or Southern magnolia, a large, broad-leafed evergreen tree growing 60'-90' in height with a trunk up to 2'-3' in diameter.

The evergreen leaves are large (5"-8" long), leathery and dark glossy green above with rusty, velveteen undersides. There's a picture and more details at

I know that this isn't exactly the colour you specified, but don't dispair:
