Dear Mr Mountie
Mr. Mountie, can you tell me how I can get my daughter on the Letterman show as a guest.
You have seen Jennifer Holiday in the stage production of Dreamgirls, you have recently introduced to Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls the movie and I would love for you and your audience to meet Jennifer Smith the future Dreamgirl.
Please let me know if you can make this happen for my 16 year old daughter who is a 10th grade student at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,,
Cynthia Smith
Dear Cynthia
Dreamgirls is not my favourite 1981 musical, and no, it’s not Cats either. It is, however, the William Finn one-act March of the Falsettos, where Marvin continues the journey of self-exploration he started in that other musical Gem, In Trousers.
Although the Mountie is considered wise, and occasionally witty, no-one has hitherto made assumptions on his ability to influence the guest list on long-running American talk-shows. I think you’ve got the wrong Mountie.
Yours Truly
Mr Mountie
